Bowl games are on life support and with the expansion of the playoffs in another year could be the end of bowl games most likely. you are one of the 12 or if not your season is over may as well expand to 26 only way I can see fairness to the schools and players who decide to play.

Our bowl game was sold out for the first time since 2010 and I would be lying if I said I watched the rest besides ours most of the time.

I think it depends on the fan bases of the teams that are selected. Poor attendance may be due to the rampant inflation and airlines trying to get back on their feet again after the pandemic. Everybody has seen the airline scheduling fiascos over the holidays.

No restaurants were open for the Birmingham bowl. That could be supply chain stuff.

I would say give it another year to let things get back to normal. Maybe tighten up eligibility or just let a smaller number of available bowls thin out the mediocre programs that are selected.

If the only post season is the CFP, I think they'll have to expand it until they eventually get to a 32 team playoff.

Bowl games are not going anywhere as conferences and TV contracts will continue...
The NCAA Tourney did not run the NIT off and the football playoff will not run bowl games off...

Bowl games will be like the NIT. Aside from the new years bowls ( and BCS previously) That’s what they pretty much have been all along. No one expect the fans of the schools that are in the game really cares who wins the mayo bowl. For example.

Even before the BCS, unless it was one of the big bowls - fiesta, rose, orange, sugar, etc, the games were pretty meaningless except to teams attending that particular bowl.
