South Carolina football is in need of a big-time back in its next recruiting class.
The Gamecocks just so happen to have a top-50 national prospect on their campus this Saturday.
Tank Bigsby, the No. 47 player in the country in the 247 Sports composite rankings, tweeted pictures from an on-campus photo shoot Saturday afternoon. There had been some reports about a visit late in the week.
Were Bigsby to come to South Carolina, he would answer a need the team has had for a while. The Gamecocks haven’t added a big-name running back recruit since David Williams in 2014 and haven’t had a big-time starter since Mike Davis in 2013. The current group is heavy on solid prospects, but is still searching for two main players to take the reins.
Bigsby at 6-foot, 195 pounds has been a prolific player. He ran for 2,221 yards and 22 touchdowns, adding 217 more through the air. He rank for more than 700 yards in four playoff games.
He’s currently the No. 8 running back in the country and No. 6 player in Georgia. He holds offers from the home-state Bulldogs, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Michigan and Ohio State among others.
South Carolina has one more week of spring football.
