Top Georgia prospects set to visit this weekend

February 16, 2018

South Carolina recruiting guestsWill Muschamp and the Gamecocks staff are set to host several prospects for unofficial visits this weekend, at least four of whom are from Georgia.

  • 2019 4-star safety Jaylen McCollough (Powder Springs): The No. 72 overall prospect in the class, according to the 247Sports composite, lists offers from Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and Tennessee, among others. Among safeties, he’s rated fourth-best in the country and he’s the No. 9 prospect in Georgia.
  • 2019 LB Tra Wilkins (Stone Mountain): According to 247Sports, he’s the No. 70 athlete in the country. But t the 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect profiles linebacker. He recently transferred to Stephenson High School, which produced D.J. Wonnum.
  • 2020 DE Myles Murphy (Powder Springs): McCollough’s teammate at Hillgrove High School, Murphy (6-4, 230) is among the country’s top prospects for his class. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Michigan have also offered.
  • 2020 RB Mecose Todd (Villa Rica): Along with South Carolina, Todd (6-0, 200) has offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
First to offerSouth Carolina is the first offer on the table for Eli Sutton, a 6-6, 265-pound 2021 tackle from Ensworth School in Nashville, Tenn.

“I will have to learn more when I visit there at some point,” he said of the Gamecocks. “I watched the impressive win in the Outback Bowl and can’t wait to see specifically what they are doing. Coach Muschamp seems like a great coach and I would love to meet him.”

LSU offered on Jan. 26, a day after South Carolina’s offer rolled through.

Upstate specialistsOne of South Carolina’s preferred walk-on offers is headed elsewhere. George Georgopoulos, a 2018 punter from J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, S.C., signed with UMass earlier this week.

Patrick Nations, a 2019 kicker from Walhalla (S.C.) High School, has yet to add any sort of an offer from the Gamecocks, but if he keeps showing off this kind of leg strength, one could be headed his way before too long.

Hope they will like us
