Transfer QB Collin Hill talks expectations in QB competition

Dec. 30, 2019, |GCF Staff Report

In the short term, new Gamecock quarterback Collin Hill is focused on getting healthy. He is now just three months removed from surgery to repair his third torn ACL, which will for the moat part will keep him out for spring practice or maybe a slight chance of limit time. When he comes back full-go in the summer, the former Dorman High School star and Colorado State transfer plans to compete to play. (VIEW ARTICLE)

Love to have this kid for many reasons, including experience in Bobo's offense, home state kid, etc. That being said I would hope we can keep him healthy. He is snakebit with ACL injuries!

I didn't realize he was injury prone and currently recovering from an ACL tear. All in all, I think Joyner is the ultimate winner in this. This will allow for him to focus on playing WR. My gut tells me that the QB depth chart will be 1) Hilinski 2) Hill and 3) Doty (who will redshirt unless both Hilinski and Hill get injured). Urich and Joyner will focus on playing WR and put QB duties behind them.

This is the future if the light bulb comes on for Muschamp. HBC saw the light and won a bunch of games with a 3* QB.

Even Joe Burrow has positive yds rushing & the taters don't go 14-0 without a dual threat QB.

I think this kid can obviously compete for the starting job, otherwise he probably wouldn't be transferring here. However it is concerning about his injuries. I would hope Hilinski comes back stronger, but who knows.

I also hope Muschamp gets out of the way on offense.

If Hill can get healthy, it can't hurt to have an experienced QB on the roster.  Ryan needs to improve in 2020 to remain the starter.
