1674513477411.pngGamecocks land transfer WR Eddie Lewis (6-0 190) from Memphis. TheBigSpur reported Lewis has enrolled, and The State confirmed that through a school spokesman. Lewis is a native of Harlem, NY. He began his college career at Rutgers in 2018 and played two seasons there. He caught 29 passes for 203 yards and 1 touchdown with the Scarlet Knights.

Lewis then transferred to Butler JC, KS where he played a spring season in 2021 catching 23 passes for 512 yards and 4 touchdowns in 6 games. From Butler, Lewis transferred to Memphis where he developed into one of the top receivers in his league. Last season he earned Second Team All-AAC honors after catching 40 passes for 596 yards and 6 touchdowns.

For his two seasons with the Tigers, Lewis caught 62 passes for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns with a long of 75 yards. He averaged over 15 yards per catch. The Gamecocks lost several receivers from last year’s team, most notably Josh Vann and Jalen Brooks, and tight ends Jaheim Bell, Nate Adkins, and Austin Stogner. Those five combined to catch 109 passes last season.

The Gamecocks do have a total of 10 receivers and tight ends set to join the program. Lewis is the fourth receiver joining the program for 2023 and is the 8th player in the class taken from the NCAA Transfer Portal
