Tua Tagovailoa Is the Key To Beating Alabama

Sept. 08, 2019 | By 2k15

Why it's more important to pressure the star quarterback than it is cover the offensive weapons around him.

Tua Tagovailoa currently sits at the top of many pundits Heisman-watch boards. The kid has impeccable footwork, perhaps the best in the country. He sidesteps edge rushers smoothly and with ease, and does a terrific job of always planting his feet and delivering an accurate throw even when under pressure or on the run. He’s a great dual threat QB with a powerful NFL arm, and he’s had a flawless start to the 2019 season: 7 TD’s, 0 INT’s for a 66.7% completion rate, and a 93.5 QBR.  (VIEW ARTICLE)

I sure hope we can put some pressure on him but with only one sack Saturday against Char. Southern, I am not sure if our guys can get enough heat on him.

Agree with Aiken.  Bama has too many offensive weapons but anything can happen.  I was at the game Sat and aside from a couple plays our DL looked sluggish coming off the ball.  Can't have that going forward.  We will need to turn possessions into drives and scores.  Can't have too many 3 n outs or the D will just get worn down.  Hopefully we can slow them enough to keep pace.

One of the things Clemson did really well in the championship game was to actually hit Tua...not just pressure him, but hit him.  Hopefully we're not chasing him all over the field.  Hopefully our D can get some clean shots on him early.

you have to make him uncomfortable in the pocket and as far as what he's seeing downfield, you speed up the decision making process for anybody it will lead to mistakes.  number one is stopping the run.  if we dont limit their run game theres not much of a chance we can limit their passing game.  i agree wholeheartedly with the write up unfortunately i think it would be a little out of character for our defensive coaches to call a game that aggressively out of the gate.
