Tuesday morning Gamecock football Recruiting notes
Jan. 05, 2015
USC reportedly is one of several schools to reach out to DL Keanu Saleapaga of La Mirad, CA Monday night after he decommitted from Southern Cal. Greg Biggins of Scout reported the Gamecocks along with Georgia, Colorado State, Oklahoma and Mississippi State were some of the schools to contact Saleapaga. He committed to Southern Cal in June.
2016 DB Brandon Jones of Nacogdoches, TX was offered by USC Monday night. He has an official visit to Texas set for January 15th and one to Auburn January 29th. He has visited Texas A&M. Alabama and Baylor are some of his other offers.
WR Kiel Pollard of Moultrie, GA has set an official visit to USC for January 15th. He has visited Arkansas and currently is committed to the Razorbacks. He said he has no other visits planned and his final decision will come down to the Gamecocks and Hogs.
Former Mr. Football WR/DB Tramel Terry of Goose Creek announced Monday night he will transfer from Georgia to Jacksonville State. Terry will be eligible to play next season for the Gamecocks. He looked into possibly transferring to USC but would have had to sit out the season, thus the decision to transfer to an FCS program.
South Pointe coach Strait Herron confirmed this afternoon his DB Chris Smith will enroll this week at USC. Smith has long been committed to USC but after Will Muschamp took over, he was told that while the scholarship was good for February signing, he wasn’t sure there would be room for him early. Smith decided to stick with the Gamecocks anyway and as things worked out they will have room to bring him in this month.
