Hendon Hooker
The USC coaching staff arrived in mass at the high school football coaches clinic in Myrtle Beach Thursday but that did not detract from their recruiting efforts as the Gamecocks handed out several more offers including two to quarterbacks.

The Gamecocks, of course, already have an offer out to 2017 quarterback Jake Bentley of Opelika, AL, the son of running backs coach Bobby Bentley.  Thursday they offered Hendon Hooker (6-4 190) of Greensboro, NC and Jelani Woods (6-7 225) of Ellenwood, GA.  Both are considered pro-style quarterbacks.

Hooker’s offer list also includes NC State, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, East Carolina, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest. Clemson also offered him but the Tigers already have two quarterbacks committed in the class.

“I’m very excited about an offer,” he said. “It’s an honor to receive a scholarship offer from this prestigious institution.”  USC recruiter Shawn Elliott made the offer to Hooker who passed for 2234 yards, 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions according to stats provided to MaxPreps.   He also rushed for 1200 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Woods also has offers from Michigan, Louisville and South Florida.  As a sophomore he passed for 1700 yards and 17 touchdowns.  His junior stats were not available.

Also Thursday USC sent offers out to WR Tahj Capehart of Virginia Beach, VA, WR Al’dontre Davis of Lutcher, LA and DE Justin Thomas of Spanish Fort, AL.
