Frank Martin has landed a highly touted transfer. 6-2 185lbs point guard Tyrone Johnson said Wednesday that he will transfer to USC from Villanova. Johnson will enroll at USC in January and will become eligible to play for the Gamecocks at the conclusion of the fall semester in 2013.
Johnson is a New Jersey native and he played one season at Villanova. He decided prior to this season to transfer. He remained at Villanova and practiced with the team while deciding on his new school. Johnson visited USC and George Washington. He also considered Illinois but was not able to make a trip there.
Johnson joined Kornblut and Bill Gunter on SportsTalk First Edition in Columbia Thursday afternoon. We’ve posted that interview for you below.
