I will not go as far as to say that the fact each of those schools have 14-17 four and five star recruits in their current classes as being insurmountable, but those are some crazy classes both schools are signing. I also know to expect the usual posts from you know who's, that state the obvious fact that stars are not the end all be all, true enough. But when those schools are signing 2-3 times the number of elite recruits as rated by sites like this, eventually the discrepancy has to be witnessed on the field, no? And please, spare me the we have beaten them three straight years argument, if we bring in 4-6 of these types and UF brings in 15-16 in a given year, well, you get the picture, eventually something has to break.

Truth on all fronts.

1) yes, if UGA/UF recruits them, due to their large bases of fans, the kid usually adds a star. Sometimes deserved, many times not. If they go to ND, they get 5 automatic stars - lol.

2) they are still ahead of us in facilities, history, etc. So we still have a hill to climb.

3) They spend spend spend. Check out recruiting budgets.

4) Sometimes having too many stars can backfire. Law of diminishing returns keeps things in check to some extent. However, if you get the right mix, LOOKOUT. (see FSU in the 90's, UF in the 90's, UF in the Tebow years, etc.)

I understand the concern, but I think we will be ok.

It's funny to see individuals get in such an uproar over recruiting classes and who de-commits, and what schools are ranked higher than ours and because they have more 4 star and 5 star recruits those teams will beat us, etc. Would I like a few more 4 & 5 star recruits in SC's column, yes but I don't worry because it is what you do with them when you get them and our coaches get the most out of them and you only have to look at our record against the other schools over the last 3-4 years to prove that.

To me, the most important achievement we need is not 5star recruits but a SEC Championship. Until we win one of those, we will be looked at as a contender but that's all. These other schools have more tradition than us so they get by on that and get special props as well. We have worked our tails off to become a contender and we can compete with any one in the nation, but we desperately need to win the SEC to solidify our current success and for us to be really looked at as legit.
