Updating 4-star recruits D’Andre Litaker, Josh Vann

April 20, 2017

D’Andre Litaker likes Will Muschamp

Earlier this spring, 4-star defensive tackle D’Andre Litaker paid his second visit to South Carolina, where he met with Muschamp and running backs coach Bobby Bentley, who serves as the Gamecocks’ lead recruiter.

“They’re losing D-line [players], so [they have] high interest on me. That sticks [out] to me because I want to go somewhere where I can be able to play,” Litaker said. “It’s just basically they’re losing D-line[men]. It was just a great visit.”

Litaker, from Murfreesboro, Tenn., first visited Columbia last summer during Muschamp Camp.

“They’re building. It’s an SEC program that’s getting really strong,” Litaker said. “South Carolina, they’re starting to be on the top. Their facilities, it’s getting amazing. Their dorms can be one of the top [housing facilities]. The dorms are really good. The facilities and all that are really good.”

Along with South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have offered the 6-foot-2, 302-pound prospect from Riverdale High School.

“Muschamp is a great dude, awesome dude. … He likes me. I like him as a coach. He knows what he’s talking about, all that,” Litaker said. “He’s just a good dude.”

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is ranked as the No. 18 defensive tackle in the Class of 2018.

South Carolina on top for 4-star WR

Four-star wide receiver Josh Vann recently told Phil Kornblut that South Carolina is still on top as his recruiting leader.

“I liked what they told me the first time I went up there, but the coaches just tell me that I would fit right in,” Vann said. “It’s a building-up offense that will be hard to stop with the right pieces, and I think I’ll fit in just by being all over than just in one spot.”

Vann, a 5-foot-10.5, 175-pound prospect from Tucker (Ga.) High School, is scheduled to visit Georgia this weekend. He’s ranked as the No. 42 wide receiver in the Class of 2018.

Beatty finishes in top 100

South Carolina basketball signee David Beatty will finish his high school career as a top 100 prospect. The 4-star combo guard from Philadelphia dropped from No. 91 to No. 95 in the final 247Sports composite ranking of the season.

Beatty, who’s also listed as then No. 6 combo guard in the country, is the Gamecocks’ highest-rated recruit since PJ Dozier (22) in 2015.

Under coach Frank Martin, Beatty is the third top 100 prospect to sign with South Carolina. Sindarius Thornwell (22) was the first in 2013.
