Updating Caleb Kinlaw; Gamecocks WR offer out in Georgia

Jan. 10, 2017

The wait continues for Caleb Kinlaw

Former Wisconsin running back Caleb Kinlaw confirmed to SEC Country in December that he would join the Gamecocks as a walk-on once accepted into school. As of Monday night, Kinlaw hasn’t receive that confirmation.

“Everything is in,” he said. “Just waiting to hear back from admissions and so on.”

The timing, of course, is made all the more interesting by the news that came out of South Florida on Monday. Three-star running back commitment Kyshaun Bryan (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) is mulling an official visit to Oregon State, according to 247Sports reporter Ryan Bartow, who also has made a Crystal Ball pick for the Beavers.

When it comes to prospects in the Miami area, Bartow’s word is probably as good as it gets.

Dakereon Joyner set to return

On Sunday night, 4-star quarterback target Dakereon Joyner announced that he’d made arrangements to return to South Carolina.

This weekend, the No. 10-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2018 will visit Virginia Tech.

Georgia, Louisville and N.C. State were also listed in Joyner’s top 5, which he released late last month.

The Fort Dorchester High School (North Charleston, S.C.) prospect will announce his commitment on Father’s Day.

Top 2018 WR learning about Carolina

Before Georgia jumped into the mix earlier this month, South Carolina was the most recent offer for Marquez Ezzard.

“My coach told me. I was in class. He called and told me I got an offer from South Carolina,” he said.

Ezzard added, “It means a lot. I was very excited. It was exciting.”

The No. 58-ranked athlete in the Class of 2018 was offered by Miami on Monday.

During practice leading up to the Georgia Junior Bowl, the 3-star prospect from Stockbridge (Ga.) High School shined at wide receiver.

Ezzard has never visited South Carolina and he “doesn’t know that much” about the Gamecocks either.

In the fall, he visited Auburn and Clemson, but the ACC’s Tigers haven’t offered.

“I want to go somewhere where I’m comfortable at and an offense that fits my style of playing,” Ezzard said.
