Upshaw is back in the fold with Gamecocks
August 02, 2022
When he announced a decommitment from the Gamecocks Sunday afternoon, SAF Cameron Upshaw of Perry Florida later explained that he was doing so so that he could commit “the right way.” By that, he meant committing publicly at one of his home games with teammates and family around. He did intend to return to Gamecock's class.
Upshaw couldn’t wait that long to get back on board with the Gamecocks. Upshaw told Hale McGranahan of TheBigSpur Tuesday night he has reissued his commitment to Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer and secondary coach Torrian Ward.
When he initially committed to the Gamecocks in mid-June, Upshaw also had on his short list Florida State, Maryland, Arkansas, and Nebraska. Since official offers could be sent out on August 1st he’s also received offers from West Virginia and Mississippi State.
Upshaw’s return to the commitment list gives the Gamecocks 16 for their 2023 class with at least four more pending this month in OT Oluwatosin Babalade, SAF Vicari Swain, DE Desmon Umeozulu, and WR Carmelo Taylor.
