WR Jordan Pouncey 6'2" 185lbs of Winter Park, FL hit the recruiting trail this week for a string of visits that will include stop at USC  He’s already seen Alabama and Tennessee this week. Wednesday he’ll be at Clemson, Florida and will visit Thursday at LSU.

The next week begins with a stop at USC on Monday followed trips to Duke and North Carolina Tuesday, NC State and Wake Forest Wednesday and Clemson and Georgia Thursday.  Friday is an off day before he arrives at Notre Dame on June 18th.

Pouncey has nearly 50 offers and these and other trips will help him to get his list down to a manageable number. His offer from USC came in the spring and he’s got real interest in Will Muschamp’s new program.

“I’ve been in touch with Coach Hutzler and Coach McClendon, we go back and forth all the time,” Pouncey said.  “I really like South Carolina.  It’s a great program.  Will Muschamp is there now and he’s looking to do a lot of big things. South Carolina, there in the mix there.”

One of the selling points of the USC program by Muschamp and his staff is early playing opportunity.  Recruits who check out the roster can see the definite need for high grade talent throughout.  And for Pouncey, that’s a big attraction to him as it pertains to the Gamecocks.

“I was on the phone with Coach Muschamp when he told me he wanted to offer me because they need big time receivers like myself,” he said.  “That really meant alot to me, to have the head coach tell me that, and not just any head coach, but Will Muschamp tell me that.  That really meant a lot.  I know for a fact I’m going to go to a college where I can play early,” he said.  “I don’t care about the record.  If I have a strong relationship with the coaches and I have a chance to get on the field early, I’m going to go to that school.”

Pouncey said Notre Dame is recruiting him the hardest at this points of all the schools working him but he said he doesn’t have a clear leader.  At this point he’s not sure when he’ll make his decision.

Last season Pouncey had 17 catches for 515 yards and 9 touchdowns.
