USC commit Jatta confident in the direction of the Gamecocks
SPORTSTALK / July 4, 2022Snow College OT Isaiah Jatta (6-6 310) of San Diego, committed to USC last month, adding a key piece to the Gamecocks’ 2023 class. Jatta chose Carolina from a list of FBS offers that included Kansas, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, Kent State, and Utah State.
When recapping his decision, Jatta said he was looking for some of the creature comforts that he found at USC.
“What led me to picking the Gamecocks was the overall family feeling, knowing Coach (Lonnie) Teasley for a few years and the steady recruitment; it was a no brainer for me,” Jatta said. “Being on campus also had a special feeling. I feel like I fit in as a player by showing my leadership and hunger from a JUCO product standpoint. It’s unique and special!”
At 310 pounds, you would think that Jatta would be slated for one of the tackle spots on the Gamecocks’ offensive line. However, he is quick to point out that versatility is one of his key attributes.
“As far as the offensive line, I am very seasoned with recognizing football and technique-wise on the field,” Jatta boasts. “Being able to play all five positions on the offensive line will be useful, but tackle is the most natural.”
Jatta will play his second season at Snow College this fall. However, he’s already looking forward to arriving in Columbia to be a part of what USC is building.
“I don’t think there will be potential for major success, I know it,” he said. “The coaches are changing the narrative. And players are buying in.”
