USC quarterbacks coach GA Mangus is best known for recruiting quarterbacks to the Gamecock program. But last recruiting campaign he won the battle for highly touted RB David Williams  of Philadelphia, and now he's got the Gamecocks in the hunt for highly regarded 4 star RB Nick Chubb 5'10" 212LBS of Cedartown, GA. Chubb visited USC Saturday and got the chance to meet with Mangus and running backs coach Everette Sands. "They were straight forward and told me everything that they believe in," Chubb said. "I got to watch a little film and saw how they run the ball and how they use their running back. Whether passing or running, they use him a lot. I like the style." The Gamecock coaches apparently like his style as well. "They tell me I remind them of (Marcus) Lattimore," he said. "They said we're very similar running backs. They would like me to be one of their running backs. They are only taking one." Chubb has also visited Georgia, Auburn and Florida and he might return to Auburn. Georgia remains a strong player but the Bulldogs have company at the top from the Gamecocks. "It's a tie right now between USC and Georgia," he said. "I feel comfortable at both of them. I've got to find the things that I like and I have to see." Chubb added that either school taking another running back won't affect his decision which he will make in June. Last season he rushed for 2717 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Chubb could decide by June

After visiting USC Saturday RB Nick Chubb of Cedartown, GA has USC among his top three along side Georgia and Auburn. "They have everything in place to be a successful program," said Chubb. After acknowledging his interest in returning to USC for another visit and possibly a game, he stated that his commitment could come as early as June. "They told me they're only taking one running back in this class." said Chubb of USC. "I know they're recruiting two other running backs...one is Dorrell Scott, I think." Scott is from Havelock, NC and has named USC his leader on several different occasions. As for Georgia and Auburn, Chubb spoke of their proximity to home as a factor and added, "Georgia is my home-state and they run the same offense (as my high school). Auburn is changing things up and has a good offensive line." Chubb also mentioned Florida could be in the mix though he has not heard from them lately. He does not have a leader.

Chubb

This was on the UGA 24/7 site. I like his comments on SC. We may have a shot.

Running backs coach Bryan McClendon sent a clear message to the top RB prospect in the state of Georgia on Tuesday. McClendon spent the entire day at Cedartown (Ga.) High School with prospect Nick Chubb.

"It showed me how interested he was in me. He wanted to make a point on how bad they really want me," Chubb said. "It really showed they want me there."

Chubb has been considered a UGA lean, but fresh off a visit to South Carolina this past weekend, he says his decision is going to be tougher now.

"As of right now I really don't know," he said. "I am more confused. I mean, South Carolina was a good visit. They showed me a lot. They showed me some things that stood out from things I usually see."
