Help is on the way for USC’s beleaguered secondary this week in the form of JUCO honorable mention All American cornerback Jamarcus King of Coffeyville JC, KS.  King plans to arrive at USC Wednesday and when drills begin in August he will be given every opportunity to win a starting job.

And more help may  be on the way for the Gamecocks’ in June as cornerback JC Jackson of Riverside JC, CA continues to strongly consider joining his former coaches from Florida in Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson.

According to Riverside secondary coach Isaac Shipp,  Jackson is “leaning towards South Carolina at the moment.  He will be finished with his AA in  mid-June.”

Jackson recently visited Maryland.  Shipp said he’s also been considering Miami and South Florida.  Wherever he lands, Shipp said Jackson figures to be an immediate difference maker in the secondary.

“He has size, speed, technique and a good football IQ,” the coach said.  “He definitely will be an immediate, huge impact player on any team in the nation.  He is a NFL guy as long as he stays healthy, one of the best I have had the honor to have coached.”

Shipp said he’s not sure about any future visits for Jackson before he finishes up at Riverside but he has advised him to gather as much information as he can on the contending programs.

“We encourage him to take trips,  to try to get a feel for the coaches and players they could be going to war with on the field,” he said.  “I told JC,  at the end of the day it’s up to you and your family!  Pray about it.  The programs that offered have quality coaches that have played and been successful in college and the pros so he can’t really go wrong.”

Jackson is a native of Immokalee, FL and was one of the nation’s top cornerback prospects in the 2014 recruiting season.  He signed with Florida where he was originally recruited by the  Muschamp staff and redshirted in 2014 due to a shoulder injury.

He was listed as a starter in spring practice of 2015 but was charged that April with four felony counts in connection with a home invasion and robbery. He withdrew from school and in a November trial he was found not guilty on all charges.

While going thru the trial process last fall, Jackson was back and forth between Gainesville and Riverside so he didn’t play a complete season.  He appeared in six games and made 25 tackles including three tackles for loss.  He forced two fumbles and he broke up two passes.
