After South Carolina’s loss to Florida last week I still felt that if Georgia could upset the Gators, USC could be in the conversation for a BCS bowl.
With the Bulldogs pulling off the upset and Carolina jumping to No. 8 in the BCS standings, the Gamecocks are inching closer to a BCS birth.
While I’m certainly no BCS expert, ESPN’s Brad Edwards is. In his latest BCS bowl projections, Edwards has Carolina facing Louisville in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
In order for Carolina to make the Sugar Bowl, the Gamecocks would have to win out. USC will be favored in its next two contests with Arkansas and Wofford and may be favored against Clemson.
If USC can win its next three games and record 10 wins, Steve Spurrier may be able to add another first to his list of accomplishments at Carolina- a first BCS bowl.
