The USC football team finished the 2012 season ranked 7th and 8th in the polls, respectively, in large part due to having the 13th ranked scoring defense in the country, a defense led by defensive coordinator, Lorenzo Ward. Monday afternoon Ward joined Kornblut and Bill Gunter on ”SportsTalk First Edition” on Sports Radio 560 TheTeam in Columbia to talk about his defense headed in to spring practice, which gets underway Tuesday, March 5th.

We ask his coach how the most popular defensive player in football will assimilate to his new position coach, Zeke Adams, if Clowney will become the leader of the D following so many departures, and if he ever really considered leaving early for the NFL.
