2018 WR Dennis Smith (6-2 185) of Gaffney picked up his first Power Five offer Wednesday from USC. The Gamecocks join Old Dominion as his two offers at this point but more certainly will be coming.
“It’s a blessing, honestly,” Smith said of the USC offer. “It’s great to have a chance to play where you are on a bigger stage . The feeling itself is just unexplainable. They love my ability to go up and make the play in the air with my hands just as well with my feet.”
According to stats compiled by MaxPreps, Smith has 41 catches for 745 yards and 7 touchdowns this season and averages over 18 yards per catch.
Smith has been to games at Clemson, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, NC State and North Carolina this season. He will be at Clemson Saturday for the USC game. The Tigers are showing interest as well.
“They like my success in the classroom and my hands along with the ability for getting open,” he said. And I’m a big target as well.”
Smith and the Indians will play in round two of the 5A playoffs Friday night
