USC football was a winner at Gaffney Tuesday night, but the Gamecock basketball team wasn't as fortunate. Indians 4star WR Shaq Davidson 6'0" 170lbs did the expected and announced a commitment to the Gamecocks. becoming USC's 9th commitment for the 2014 class. But Gaffney basketball standout LJ Peak stunned the crowd by first putting on a Gamecock cap then throwing it to the ground and announcing a commitment to Georgetown. Davidson had favored the Gamecocks throughout the recruiting process despite strong efforts by Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee. Davidson plays quarterback for the Indians and led them to the Big 16 championship last season. Last season he passed for 901 yards and 9 touchdowns and rushed for 600 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 340 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 6-5 Peak is regarded as the state's top basketball prospect. He led Gaffney to the state championship as a sophomore then played last season in Chicago before returning to Gaffney in April. He visited USC with Davidson and their close friendship was the reason most felt he would commit to the Gamecocks. He narrowed his list to USC, Georgetown and Florida State before picking the Hoyas.
