USC hosting forward prospect Tavario Miller this weekend

11/09/12

3 star 6'8" 240lbs Tavario Miller of Houston is making an official visit to USC this weekend. The 240 pound Miller has taken four other official visits to Illinois State, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and South Alabama. Miller's coach said the Gamecocks started to show serious interest in him in September. Tulsa and Illinois State are strong with him, according to his coach, but he wants to see how the USC visit goes before he makes a decision. He plans to sign in November. Miller averaged 13.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game last season and can play both forward positions. “He dominates inside,” coach Willie Patrick said. “He handles the ball well and can shoot the three. He runs the court well and is a good shot blocker.”

6-8 Tavario Miller may have decision by week's end

6-8 Tavario Miller returned to Houston Sunday night after completing his official visit at USC. He was at the Colonial Life Arena shortly before the Gamecocks tipped off their season before leaving to catch his flight. He had his mother with him for the weekend. Miller has narrowed his decision to USC and Tulsa and could choose by the end of the week or early next week. Miller got the full tour of facilities, campus and academics and said he liked it all. He also liked what he saw from Gamecock coach Frank Martin and the staff. "The coaches push the players to be better players and I think that's something I really need," said Miller who USC is recruiting as a small forward. "Coach Martin laid it out on the table how he would develop me and how he would use me." Miller said right now he's not leaning one way or the other. He said he will consult with his mother on the decision but the final call will be his.

A new player emerges for 6-8 Tavario Miller

6-8 Tavario Miller of Houston had a big Tuesday on and off the court. On the court, he scored 42 points and had 22 rebounds in a victory for his Wheatley High School team. Off the court he picked up offers from Texas A&M and Oregon according to his coach. Miller said the Aggies are now a factor with him. "Texas A&M is in there now," said Miller who visited USC last weekend. "I will consider them. I'll make a decision next week." Miller said USC, Tulsa and Illinois State are the others under consideration. He also took official visits to Louisiana Tech and South Alabama. Miller's coach plans to sit down with him this week and talk about the decision. "He's confused," Willie Patrick said. 'He's got to grow up and make this decision on his own." Miller said there is no favorite among his finalists.
