DB Naytron Culpepper 6'1" 175lbs of Miami released his top seven schools over the weekend and USC was on that list. The Gamecocks are joined by Michigan State, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Louisville and Utah. Culpepper was offered by the Gamecocks earlier this and has drawn a lot of interest from Gamecock recruiter and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson, and Culpepper is returning the interest in kind.
“It’s a great opportunity to play early and get coached by a great DB coach,” Culpepper said. “He (Robinson) sees me being on the island at corner but staying versatile in the secondary like (former Florida State star Jalen) Ramsey.”
Culpepper has made two unofficial visits to USC. He has not set up any visits for this summer but he plans to return to USC at some point. And he does not have a timetable for a decision. But he knows what he’s looking for in a school.”
“Early playing time, an at home feeling and an education,” he said adding that there is no order to his seven but USC is recruiting him the hardest out of the group right now. “They’re letting me know I’m a top priority.”
Last season Culpepper had over 20 tackles with 3 interceptions and 4 passes defended.
