USC has joined fellow SEC programs Tennessee and Kentucky in offering DB Shakur Brown (6-0 175) of Stockbridge, GA.  His teammate and fellow defensive back Yusef Corker also has a USC offer.

Brown also has offers from West Virginia, Minnesota, Oregon State, Colorado State, Georgia Southern, Troy and Miami of Ohio.  Brown said the Gamecock offer was relayed to him Thursday by his coach.

“I’ve visited there a couple of times with Yusuf Corker and I really like the school and I’m excited,” Brown said.  “I really like how their bond is and how they are like a family and when I go up there I feel like I’m part of something big.  They are in my top five, guaranteed.”

Brown played mostly quarterback for his team last season but he did play four games at cornerback and registered 23 tackles and 4 interceptions.  The Gamecocks and the rest like him for the secondary.

“They said I have fluid hips and I’m a ballhawk,” Brown said.  “And they said I’ve got great jamming ability.”

Brown last visited USC in the spring and he hopes to get back again later this month.  He  has not made any visits this summer because he’s been focusing on his school work. He said Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon State and West Virginia are the other schools he’s strongly considering along with the Gamecocks.

Brown said he’s not rushing a decision because he’s expecting more offers to come in and he wants to have the chance to visit all the schools that are interested in him.

As for his buddy Corker, Brown said he talked with him Thursday and was told he remains undecided.  Corker also visited USC twice in the spring.
