If we can have fewer turnovers than UT, and make more FT than UT, I think we will win.   We are heavy underdogs (14.5 pts),  but unless we just stink it up, I  think we will make a close game of it.   I won't be surprised if we lose, because winning road games is tough, but I think we're better than a lot of people think we are.   If we win at least one game this week, we'll still be fine.  You never know how many shots are going to go in.   UT struggled against Ole Miss to make shots.   If that happens tonight, I like our chances.

I think this particular team is good at learning from its mistakes and will beat the Vols up there, but we'll see.

Frank also acknowledged they have had to adjust to Key and Jermaine betting back into the line-up after their long lay-offs.

I think this may be the game where the team is better in synch and we get the win.

Couisnard and Bryant have yet to get "in sync".   Bryant especially.   I expect they will get better with that as time goes.  If they are closer tonight, it will certainly help us.    Turnovers and FT are key.  If we can beat UT in those things, then we have a good chance to win.  I saw where we have dropped to a 15.5 point underdog.  I don't understand why, but I wish I could take us and the points.

It appears South Carolina will be overwhelm tonight. but if Tennessee plays like they did against Mississippi then South Carolina could have a chance at a win.

Gamecocks were in the lead 21-19 with little over 3 minutes left to play in the 1st half. Then the Vols go on a 11-3 run to close out the half to lead 30-24. Still a close game - big question now if the Gamecocks make adjustments and maintain their effort, or if they cool off and/or Tennessee heats up....

Realisticly, this team is shit.  There are no point guards on this team.   Neither Couisnard nor Wright is an SEC caliber PG.  Neither is quick enough and neither handles the ball  well enough to play at this level.  We are getting NOTHING offensively from our bigs.  We can't make FT.   We foul and turn the ball over like those are things you are supposed to do to win games.    Add it all together and the future looks damn bleak.

Let's face it:  USC simply is lower third in the SEC in talent and coaching.   Frank doesn't know who to recruit or how to recruit them.  I always have been a Frank supporter and a USC men's basketball supporter, but if I take off my garnet glasses, what I see is a team that has no  PG.  Has no bigs that are worth a damn.   Can't play without fouling and turning the ball over.  Can''t make FT.   ]]

I'm going on record right now in saying that USC will have a losing SEC record this season. They will not make the NCAA tournament.   And if I am correct about those things, I think it will be time to part ways with Frank Martin and try to find a new coach.  I really hate to say that, but I think Frank has proven he can't build a winning program like Pearl has done at Auburn, Barnes has done at UT, and Oats has done at Alabama.   i wish I was wrong.

I don't think Martin particularly likes true point guards, unless they are big and long, or are defensive players. He likes all the fouling that comes from physical play and turning games into street rock fights, to knock opponents off their feet. But mostly all that does is leave his own teams as discombobulated as the opponents, and there's tons of turnovers while opponents load up on tons of free throw opportunities. Mostly, that's a recipe for losing games to quality opponents, but that's Frank Martin Basketball...

Hard to argue any of the last 3 posts.  I've been a big FM supporter but if we don't go to the big dance we have to make a change.

I have too.  I wanted to keep him last spring when a lot of peoplel wanted him gone.   But, I want a winning program more than I want to keep Frank.  And it looks to me like Frank can't get it done.  Sad to say.   I hoped we would at least be competitive in this game, but we aren't.   Fouls and turnovers prevent being competitive.   I finally realized none of our guards can play the point.  They are all shooting guards.

If I had a suggestion for Frank, I think it would be to play Couisnard off the ball and play Eric Stevenson at PG.  He can handle the ball as well or better than Couisnard does.    Back him up with Wright and Devin Carter and see what happens.   Eric is a better passer and a better FT shooter than any of the other guards.  If he played the point, he  would likely draw more fouls.

I just have to look at the past 10 years and say what kind of program has he built and today we are no better off than we were when we hired him.  Still at the bottom of our conference.  The final 4 run he actually had a point guard that came here because of his family otherwise we would have never gotten Dozier and he has not brought another quality point guard to the table since.  I agree with the above finish the season and if not tournie, time to move on.  Also agree let Stevenson handle the rock.  He seems to be the only person on the team that has the maturity and stones to do it with consistency.

I tuned into the radio broadcast at halftime and heard the halftime guy talking about the last shot of the first half that gave the Vols a 30-24 lead instead of a 27-24 lead at the half.

I was tired and did not follow the game the rest of the night, but I didn't think things looked too bad at the half, so I just took a nap through most of the game.

I usually go to most of the home games, but have decided to not do that this season because of Covid, so it makes me not care about most of the games to a certain point.

Then I googled the score later in the evening and just said, "Oh, well".

Their records says both Bruce Pearl and Rick Barnes are better coaches than Frank and this is fundamentally a team of new guys this season.

Keep moving forward.  Play the next game.

Right now I am watching the team from a distance and waiting for that to happen, but I also get the frustration of others with Frank's coaching.

We were only out-rebounded 40-38 by the Vols, which should make Frank happy.

We needed two more players in double figures and the usual guys didn't even come close to that.  Wildens played 24 minutes but did not make any shots.

Rick Barnes said a few years ago that our Final Four run showed him the importance of good defense and the Vols have had very good seasons since Barnes decided to make defense more of a priority in recent years.  The Vols play better defense than most of the teams in the SEC.

I believe this team will learn from this loss and get better down the road.

The team just needs to flush this loss and keep moving forward.

It is just one game.   And every team is a work in progress.  Even the best teams right now are trying to get better.  But they may also get worse.   Rarely does any team play well in every game in a season.  USC has some problems  right now that I'm not certain they can solve.   But they might.  We'll see.  If they can win against Florida on Saturday, they will be 2-2 in the SEC.  That would not be bad at this point in the season.   The season is a long way from being over.   A lot of things can happen, good and bad.   If Frank and his staff and players can find a way to make the NCAAT, I think Frank should get another year.   But if they can't, then its probably time to part ways with Frank.   I always hate to change coaches, but sometimes it is needed.  We'll see how things go.

I over reacted to the game last night.  If you follow college basketball, you know that losses by 15-20 points are fairly common.   It doesn't take much to turn a 12 point margin into 20.   We will have more losses.  Hopefully, when the regular season is done, our SEC wins will outnumber our losses.
