South Carolina faces Florida tonight at 7 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2.

Kevin Fitzgerald (pxp) and Pat Bradley (analyst) will be on the call for Wednesday night’s clash with the Gators at Exactech Arena.

The Gamecocks have won three-straight games in Gainesville dating back to 2018 and will be looking to put a halt to a recent three-game losing streak.

Official CLA attendance for the Auburn game was 13,048. That is somewhat incredible given the disappointing season we're having up to this point.

The fan base likes Lamont and the team. Find a way to win on the road and go from there.

GO COCKS!!

Gators win 81-60.

We did okay on 3-pointers and FTs. Both Gray and GG had double-doubles, which is pretty rare for our program.

No passes and assists, bad defense, and not enough dribble penetration in the paint.

Nobody except Lamont and the team knows where the dividing line between the coaches and players is right now, but this is the kind of bad basketball that people here are not used to watching. You would see stuff like this in Frank's losing skids that eventually got fixed, but this has been the whole season.

I'm not gonna bash Lamont and the kids (and they ARE kids), but it's totally unacceptable for this stuff to go on the whole season.

Just for some historical perspective, in Frank Martin’s year 1, we had some blowout losses as well (though not 40+ point losses). 75-36 vs. UF; 77-55 vs. UK; 64-46 vs. LSU; 90-68 vs. Mizzou at home. There were a large handful of games in the 11-12 point loss range as well.

Give Lamont the benefit of the doubt for now. He was dealt a bad hand to begin with by the VERY late hire and then lost one of his (I believe) scoring options before the season started (Dibba). He has ZERO bench depth beyond three players (GG, Brown, and Meechie), and is saddled with players who give up defensively when things don’t go their way. It’s a rough year, but I believe he’ll start getting some of “his guys” in the next two years to develop and rebuild the ‘Cocks. He’s got the pedigree and will be fine, but we have to be patient. Frank is gone. Like it or hate it. Now Coach Paris is our guy and he deserves the same support Frank enjoyed for a period of time. As do the players.

I started going to going to the CLA at the beginning of SEC play during the 2013-14 season, Frank's second season.

I was just a casual fan back then. We were so bad, it looked like the players knew what they were doing and Frank didn't.

Then I started listening to Frank's PG pressers and discovered it was the opposite. LOL

That was Sin's Freshman year IIRC. He would just put his head down, bring the ball down the court, and soldier through it.

Something like that is probably what Lamont is dealing with right now while trying to figure out what works and what doesn't.

I think losing Dibba early on only made things worse, like you say. Thornwell made a difference, but was nowhere near the caliber player that GG is.

Mike White made a lateral move from Florida to UGA and has the Dawgs playing their best ball in years despite only being in Year 1. Frank might have done better if he had the portal and current transfer rules back then. In that sense, Lamont needs to figure it out and stop the skid.

You need a player like GG to walk into a team with an alpha to lead, that has been around "the program" or at least a few system players... we brought in a bunch of peices and started from scratch, hard to judge anything from this season in small segments, this team has no identity...it may not find one or it maybe too late...

I completely agree. The only exception I can think of was Jason Kidd WAAAAY back in the day. He, of course, had some vets around him, but not (at least that I can remember) that alpha around him.

I was remembering Brenton Williams from Frank Martin’s first years with USC. Brenton was no GG, for sure, but he DID lead the nation during most of the season in FT’s, and I THINK may have been our only player in double figures average that year. Just had no supporting characters arund him.

Brown should be the veteran that anchors GG, but he's in early foul trouble more often than not.

Lamont hasn't been calling TOs, either. That's what Frank did when the guys weren't doing what he wanted them to do.

Brown's getting "Chris Silva" syndrome IMO, the refs are looking to call fouls on him. I swear at least 25% of the fouls called on him are BS.

Yep, I agree with you about the fouls being called on Brown. I also think he's trying too hard to be an inside presence on a team that has no inside threat. Brown would be a great complimentary player on most teams but is forced into doing too much on this team.

I agree, he'd most likely be more effective coming off of the bench. I do appreciate his effort, hustle, and attitude though.

An example would be I'd Erik Stevenson who is currently torching Auburn, if Bryant or Couisnard had stayed 🤔 🤷
