Several players from Newton High School in Covington, GA visited USC Monday morning and before they left Will Muschamp dished out an offer to WR Jeremiah Holloman 6'3" 195lbs.  Holloman is a heavily recruited prospect who also picked up an Alabama offer Monday morning.  Holloman, a former Michigan commitment,  also has offers including Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Virginia and West Virginia.

“When I got here seeing the stadium and stuff it, it was great,” Holloman said.  “I talked to the coaches and they are really good people, really looking out for me and for the betterment of me becoming a better young man and football player.  They were telling me I’m a physical player and I can catch the ball and make good moves to make big plays.”

Holloman said the offer moves USC into his top group along with Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama. He and his teammates are headed to Georgia from Columbia and he also plans to visit Tennessee and Ole Miss soon.  He won’t make a decision until around Signing Day.

Also on the visit was DB Steven Montac of Coffeyville JC, KS but a graduate of Newton who is home on spring break. He did not get the offer he was seeking from the Gamecocks but left with the hope of one down the road.

“I talked to Coach Muschamp and he was happy to have me on campus and I also had a one-on-one conversation with Coach T-Rob and that went well, too,” Montac said.  “He said he wants to see me work out one-on-one.  He said that’s how he does it with all his corners.  Jamarcus King actually had to work out for him in the summer.  Vernon Hargreaves, who he coached when he was at Florida, had to work out for him.  That’s just a condition that he has before he offers corners to come in and play for him.”

Montac said he might return to USC later this week with his family if he can work it out.  He’s also looking at a visit to LSU this weekend.   West Virginia has had some recent contact with him as well.  He has offers from Fresno State and Troy.

And a third prospect in the group drawing Gamecock interest was LB Jaquan Henderson (6-1 198).  He did not get an offer on the visit because they want him to get his weight up to about 21o pounds.  Right now he has Virginia, Tennessee, LSU, North Carolina and Nebraska as his top group and said each has offered.

Also visiting the Gamecocks from Newton were DB Robert Black, DL Deion Watson and ATH Deonta Clark.
