South Carolina senior left-handed pitcher Tyler Webb has earned Preseason All-America honors as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Webb received second-team honors from the NCBWA.

South Carolina opens the 2013 season on Friday, Feb. 15, hosting a three-game series with Liberty at Carolina Stadium.

In 2012, Webb made 39 appearances, second highest in a single season in school history with an impressive 6-1 record, a miniscule 1.56 ERA, as well as three saves with 58 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings pitched. Opponents hit just .211 against him. 30 times in 39 appearances, the opponent failed to score a run against him. He would factor in 28 of the 49 Carolina wins last season.

From 2010 to 2012, in the postseason, he has made 15 appearances with 21.1 innings pitched and just one earned run allowed, an impeccable 0.42 ERA. In three seasons the Gamecock southpaw has not allowed a run in Omaha at the College World Series
