I was doing some light reading this morning, and I notice that Palm over at CBS Sports only has 4 teams from the SEC making it: Florida (1), Kentucky (6), Arkansas (11) and Missouri (12).

That's kind of bad for a 14 team conference (even though we'll stack the NIT!) but it got me thinking, that with the SEC Tournament coming up we actually have a shot, however remote, of winning this thing.

Here is, according to Warrennolan.com, how the bottom 4 of the SEC are supposed to shake out:

11. Alabama 6-12
12. Auburn 5-13
13. South Carolina 5-13
14. Mississippi State 3-15

So we would get another game with Auburn.....yippee.  Let's say we finally break through and win that.  Then we have the very winnable Alabama or Miss State game.  Let's say we win THAT one....well now, momentum is clearly on our side now.  We could DO this!

Let's say that's true and we win 5 games in 5 days to go to 17-19 overall and an automatic bid.  Where would we be seeded?  As it stands right now, we are a 16-seed, but with what will have been 7-3 in the last 10 and about a 140ish RPI, we probably get a 15-seed.  And who would we play?  Why Syracuse of course.  Now Syracuse is in a freefall right now, and they were actually the first ever 2-seed to lose in the NCAA Tournament.

And the upstart, scrappy, battle-tested Gamecocks somehow find a way to pull the upset over the Boeheims again to advance to the second round.  And finally the clock strikes midnight and the 7/10 team ends our euphoric run, beating us by 20.

Carolina ends the season 18-20, with SEC Tournament title in hand, but MORE IMPORTANTLY.....that monkey of not winning an NCAA Tournament game since 1973 is also dead and buried.  Exciting, fun-filled times lie ahead, not to be achieved without continual hard work and profanity-laced tirades on the sidelines, but the future for USC basketball has rarely been brighter. And NOBODY is left questioning whether or not progress is being made in Columbia.

NO ONE!!!!

Dream on! I'm with ya! Heck it's not out of the question for us to win the National Championship.... in baseball or football I mean.
