USC still on DB Trey Dean list & Clemson’s calling

DB Trey Dean of Hampton, GA was offered earlier in the week by Oklahoma and the Sooners could work their way into the picture with a visit later this summer. Dean has been working with a short list of USC, Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Michigan. He’s made two visits to USC this year, one in January for a junior day and one in late April. The Gamecocks remain a factor with him as he sorts things out.
“Muschamp texts me everyday and they just want me to commit,” Dean said. “He’s defensive minded and they produce a lot of DBs, so it should be a great fit.”
Dean plans to hit the road soon to check out one of his favorites and possibly a couple of others trying to crash the party before he makes his decision.
“I’m going to visit Texas and probably try to get to Florida State and Clemson if I can and then really figure out the place God wants me to be,” he said. “Clemson wanted me to visit a long time ago and I never gave them a chance. With Clemson, you’ve got to go down there to get an offer.”
Dean said his last contact from Clemson came from secondary coach Mike Reed just before the dead period. He said Reed told him to come in for a visit and get an offer.
USC, Dean said, has invited him for its prospect party on July 22nd but he’s not sure if he’ll make that. He said his current favorites list is USC, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Michigan, Oregon and UCLA, and he indicated Texas is out front.
Dean is set to announce July 31st at a ceremony at his school at 8:00 PM.
