When Marcus Lattimore took the stand to announce his decision to enter the 2013 NFL Draft earlier today, he was joined by South Carolina team physician Dr. Jeff Guy, who studied under James Andrews. Dr. Guy discussed the details of the gruesome injury Lattimore suffered against Tennessee earlier this season, as well as his rehab and when he could be back on the field.

According to Dr. Guy, Lattimore caused damage to three of his four ligaments when he dislocated his knee, but no bones were broken due to the injury. The nerves in his knee were fine, as well as his blood vessels and ability to get blood to his knee. Among the three ligaments that were affected, he had to have his ACL completely reconstructed, but was able to have his other ligaments (not torn) reattached to his knee.

Dr. Guy reiterated that Lattimore is where he should be at this point in the rehab process and will not need another knee surgery, and will be able to play football again once he gets healthy.
