USC-Vols matchup: Yes, both coaches are heated about officials

Oct. 22, 2019

The Gamecocks (3-4, 2-3 SEC) and Volunteers (2-5, 1-3) meet at 4 p.m. this Saturday in Knoxville. (VIEW ARTICLE)

In closing Pruitt said.  “Hey, we make mistakes as coaches, and they’re going to make mistakes as officials. Players make mistakes, we all do, nobody’s perfect. ... But unfortunately we’re all held accountable. And from an accountability standpoint, it’s tough. What’s the repercussion here?”
And I think that is the crux of the situation that nearly all fans agree with. A coach makes a mistake, and he is fined or fired or whatever, and that is made public. A player makes a mistake, and he is suspended from play or dismissed from the team, and that is made public. A referee makes a mistake, and we're all supposed to carry on as if nothing happened? Coaches get fined for even bringing it up in a press conference.

Get out of here with that nonsense.

As a side note for those who were unaware, there is a Twitter account for SEC Officials. It was created late last year as a means to provide more transparency to their thinking process as well as to explain the rules that led to penalties. So far this year, they have been pretty quick to post a video of a controversial call and explain it. They've been dead silent since the UF game.
