Kobe Smith
DL Kobe Smith (6-4 295) of Lawrenceville, GA is headed to USC and will be there Friday.  Smith sent out an indication of his plans on his Twitter page Wednesday night with #SpursUp, the Twitter message preferred by Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp to alert Gamecock fans to a commitment or a coaching hire.

His plans were later reported by the Gwinnett Daily Post and confirmed by GoGamecocks thru a Twitter direct message from Smith.

Smith had planned to make a decision last Saturday but reported on Twitter that an issue with a school credit had arisen and he wouldn’t be making a decision that day nor enrolling early.  Apparently, that issue has been cleared.

Smith had committed to NC State and then Kentucky during the recruiting process.  It was after he decommitted from Kentucky in December that Muschamp moved in on him.  Muschamp had offered Smith while he was the defensive coordinator at Auburn.

Smith’s decision came down to USC and Kentucky.  Arkansas, Cincinnati and Georgia Tech were some of the other schools he

Smith was a second team All-County performer this past season by the Daily Post.   He gives USC 21 newcomers for the 2016 season including 6 mid-year enrollees.
