Latest completely unfounded rumor: Napier is up in Tatertown working to convince him to come at Gainesville, where he will make him the highest-paid DC in college football history.

TIFWIW.

Venables will cease being the defensive guru of all time if he has to face SEC opponents all season long, just like Muschamp.

I think he stays in Clemson and goes nowhere.  Then a little bump in salary after it's all done.

I agree.  Venables and Clemson as a whole, has been built on playing vastly inferior teams, and not having to deal with any injuries, so they are fresh for the playoffs.  Georgia kicked them in the teeth, and ACC teams have gotten a bit better.

I suck at basketball, but if you put me playing a bunch of 5th graders, I look like Shaquille Oneal.

Clemson's run is over now that Venables is out. Tony Elliott will likely leave too. If they weren't in the ACC, Dabo would probably be on the hot seat in 2-3 years.

Elliott a finalist at both VPI and Duke.
