VIDEO: Frank Martin Preseason News Conference

USC basketball coach Frank Martin held his pre-season press conference Wednesday afternoon and two days into camp he couldn’t feel better about his team. Martin believes despite the departure of standout Chris Silva, this year’s team will be more physical across the board and do a better job of rebounding and rim protection. Offensively, he expects to play as fast, if not faster, than last year’s team which, he said according to the stats, was the fastest in the SEC.

Here's why this presser gives me hope for this season.

Dude has his eyebrows back and he looks to be in great health.

He had lost his eyebrows and looked gaunt as hell like he was undergoing some serious medical treatment.

Not sure what was going on, but it's great to have the old Frank back.

We're going to kick some serious ass this season.

Fast and most athletic.   I like that combination.   The questions and his responses are all over the map but interesting to listen to.   Frank appeared to be excited and in great spirits.    He even mentioned he’s sleeping better.

Most important takeaway is the coachability of all of our players in this year's squad.

That's big.

I love listening to Frank's pressers.  Dude just straight talks, no coach speak for him.

I tend to believe Frank may have been worried about potential NCAA penalties from the bribery investigation that could adversely affect his career.

Ex-military guys know how to communicate during stressful times.  I wouldn't be surprised if Bob Caslen manned-up and asked the NCAA to give us a Yes or No answer on whether any penalties were coming because it's been long enough and our HC has been worrying himself into an early grave.
