Head Coach Frank Martin and sophomore AJ Lawson met with the media Thursday morning


The USC-Clemson rivalry moves back to the hardwood Sunday afternoon at Littlejohn Coliseum. Neither the Gamecocks nor Tigers have lit up the basketball world in the first month of the season. The Gamecocks are 6-4, the Tigers 5-4. USC has won two of its last three but is coming off an ugly home loss to Houston. The Tigers have dropped their last three including losses of 18 and 19 points in their last two games. Thursday Gamecock coach Frank Martin discussed his team and the game with the media in Columbia. Friday Clemson coach Brad Brownell will do likewise with his media.

I usually learn something from Frank's pressers.   Today I learned that Frank thinks some of his players aren't as competitive as he thought they were.   That's a problem.  You want all of your guys to be relentless competitors.     I also learned that one player has one more exam Friday morning and that's the end of exams for the team.   Full attention can then turn to basketball for the next few weeks, and practice time will increase,  both things  this team badly needs.
