Signing Day Press Conference - 2/3/16
He and his staff came in late but they finished strong and USC coach Will Muschamp believes they did more than just salvage a recruiting season with this class. Muschamp has signed 24 players to this point and was hoping to add DL Karamo Dioubate of Philadelphia tonight as he addressed the media this afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium.The Gamecocks have had a highly successful National Signing Day going four-for-four on targets including highly acclaimed DL Stephon Taylor of New Orleans. Muschamp said the entire USC community, from the president on down, pitched in to help the recruiting effort and it paid off with a high percentage of commitments to official visits in January.
One key note from Muschamp’s comments was that quarterback Brandon McIlwain is a full-time football player and won’t split time with baseball, even if he earns a starting spot on the diamond. He will be at every football practice and will go to baseball when it fits his football schedule.
After his press conference Muschamp brought in all of the early enrollees along with family members who could attend so each one could have a Signing Day moment as well, something he said he did when he was at Florida.
