He was already wearing the brace, but not sure whyUnable to watch the game.
Was he already wearing a brace on his left leg?
The brace was more a precautionary move than anything else. The trainers did not feel "give" in Hilinski's knee, but he was obviously dealing with pain. Hilinski didn't resort to a crutch, but had a trainer by his side the rest of the game to give him a shoulder to lean on, so I guess that trainer was basically a crutch, lol.He was already wearing the brace, but not sure why
I saw some unconfirmed chatter that they were hoping to get Hilinski into an MRI last night right after the team arrived in Columbia. I would think it reasonable to assume that this would be the case. Even if team doctors weren't available, which I'll bet they were, I'm pretty sure Ryan's parents would have taken him to any MRI available last night and got the ball rolling with the doctors. They were there to meet Ryan and the team when the buses came home.We need him against UF, but it is just one game. The overall season and his health and career should be priority one.
A quick call needs to be made so we can get Joyner (and Urich) ready if Hilinski can't go. I have been a fan of Joyner since he committed and think that he can be a good QB if we tweak the system to fit his (and Urich's) talents. I still think that we can take UF down if we run the ball well, get pressure on their QB, and Joyner is comfortable with what we ask him to do.
Excellent points. Joyner will be successful playing his style. We need him against UF, but it is just one game. The overall season and his health and career should be priority one.

I totally agree with your assessment of Dak Joyner. I think he is pretty good at managing a game if you do not ask too much of him. He is far behind Jake Bentley and Ryan Hillinski in QB knowledge of total game plan. I think Jay Ulrich would be a better passer and he is a whole lot taller than Dak Joyner and Jay U can fly. Dak Joyner is also nursing a leg injury and at times appears to be limping? I will give Dak Joyner credit in how he did manage to keep USC in the game without a costly turnover, but he is a liability as a passer and I only hope he can get better. It wasn’t a dirty play. Player got tripped up flying to the ball.
Would rather see Ulrich at QB. Joyner consistently throws screens behind the runner instead of leading him. Can’t have that. His arm strength is questionable too. It appears he hast to overthrow to try and get some zip on the ball which might be causing his accuracy issues. Perhaps we can bring him in as a wildcat quarterback. Ulrich can really fly too. His legs might be a weapon as well.
