Sights and sounds from the Will Muschamp Football Camp
June 13, 2016
South Carolina’s coaches needed all three practice fields to comfortably fit all the participants Monday at the Will Muschamp Football Camp.
The 1-on-1 reps between wide receivers and defensive backs usually draw most onlookers’ attention. Monday’s camp was no different.
Staged at the center of the show were two 2018 quarterbacks: Joe Milton and Qadir Ismail.
Ismail, the son of former NFL wide receiver Qadry Ismail, is a 6-foot-7, 200-pound prospect from Bel Air, Md. Offensive coordinator Kurt Roper kept a close eye on both Ismail and Milton, with the latter having picked up an offer from the Gamecocks last month.
Milton (6-foot-5, 205 pounds) also has offers from Akron, Florida Atlantic, Iowa State, McNeese State and Mercer. From Olympia High School in Orlando, Milton was one of several prospects from the state of Florida on campus Monday.
Among the guests visiting from the Sunshine State: 2017 Florida State commitment D.J. Matthews (Jacksonville-Trinity Christian).

Several traveled together on a bus tour, sponsored by Top Recruits Now. The group includes several 2017 prospects with an offer from South Carolina, including 2017 wide receiver Jordan Pouncey, who attends Winter Park (Fla.) High School.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound, three-star prospect sat out Monday’s drills because of a hamstring injury. Before 1-on-1 began, linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler asked Pouncey if he was going to grab his cleats. Pouncey declined, opting to cheer for his friends during their reps. Alabama, Florida and Notre Dame are among the schools receiving strong consideration. The Tide offered him as a cornerback.
Running backs coach Bobby Bentley asked the linebacker group if they wanted to use two guys to cover [/size]Shaun Shivers, a 5-foot-7, 160-pound speedster from Hollywood, Fla., who has an offer from the Gamecocks.
At the conclusion of 1-on-1, defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson rounded up the skill players to thank them for attending camp.
