WATCH WITH NOTES:Talking Zacch Pickens & defense with defense DL coach John Scott Jr.

August 05, 2019

A lot of eyes are on South Carolina defensive lineman Zacch Pickens, the crown jewel of the Gamecocks’ 2019 recruiting class and the first five-star in Columbia since a guy named Jadeveon Clowney. He spent spring on campus and got his first taste of practice in garnet and black. Since then,

he’s gone through the the full offseason routine of player-run practices and workouts, and his position coach, John Scott Jr., saw one crucial change. (VIEW ARTICLE)

I'm really excited about the defensive line group for this season, perhaps most of all the positions. A solid combination of depth, experience, and talent, at a position that hasn't been dominant for a number of years now, but one that needs to be dominant if the program is going to be successful in the SEC.

Just having the depth, so that whenever starters come out of game,s there won't be a substantial drop-off in production, will help us....

Short of Pickens, as far as the eye test and how their bodies look, Harris is the most impressive. He looks like he was born in a weight room and moves very very well and seems to know what the offensive coaches are asking for.
