Auburn is really struggling this season. They still play their frenetic defense under Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy which has been a signature for her teams, but they are poor this season in most all the defensive categories, save steals and forced turnovers. Ty, Zia, and Destanni will need to stay focused and protect the ball and make crisp accurate passes, and the offense should flow. Auburn's own offense is middling within the conference, but they are a strong free-throw shooting team.

I am looking forward to seeing Laeticia Amihere return to the team's active roster after helping her Canadian National Team win their Olympic Qualifying tournament in Ostend Belgium over the past weekend - she was with the team for their win over Connecticut, but her national team played their final game the day before on Sunday, so she was not dressed out and must have just gotten home in Columbia earlier Monday. Laeticia has been coming on during SEC play, averaging 7.3 ppg and 3.5 rpg in 8 SEC games, and shooting 53.7% from the field. We need to keep everyone playing well as the season winds down towards post-season seeding.....

Gamecocks start the game on FIRE - hit their first 4 3-point attempts...... their first FIVE (5) 3-pointers!!! :nothing-but-net-smiley-emoticosmall:

Gamecocks lead at Auburn  22-13  at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Gamecocks are a little enamored with the 3-point line tonight - who can blame them: they are 6-8 from the 3 thus far. But they are 2-10 from inside the arc, and Boston is scoreless with one attempt after 1 period of play. But the team overall is still strong offensively....

Neither team playing much defense to start the 2nd Qtr. - Auburn goes on a little run, and Coach Staley sits the starters and puts in the Super Subs - Amihere is in the game!!

Tigers went on a 6-0 run to pull within 3  22-19  early in the 2nd Qtr. Gamecocks have scored the next 12 points, and lead  35-19  now.....

After withstanding a 6-0 Auburn mini-run to open the 2nd Quarter, the Gamecocks out-score the Tigers 20-4 the rest of the way, and take a  42-23  lead into the halftime recess. Zia Cooke lead all scorers with 12 points on 4-5 shooting - 4-4 from behind the 3-pt. line - and the Gamecocks shoot 8-12 overall from behind the arc.....

All Gamecocks as they lead  68-40  through three periods of play. They are 10-15 from behind the arc tonight - I don't know what the program record is for a single game, but we must be knocking on the door if we haven't walked through......

#1 ranked Gamecocks win over Auburn  79-53  to improve to 24-1, 11-0 on the season. Five Gamecocks scored in double-digits in the evenly distributed offense: Zia Cooke had 13 points and 4 rebounds, Aliyah Boston also scored 13 pts to go with 3 rebounds and 2 steals, Ty Harris added 12 pts, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds, Kiki Herbert-Harrigan had 11 pts and 5 rebounds, and Lele Grissett chipped in 11 pts and 4 boards off the bench. Reserve Victaria Saxton led the team with 8 rebounds, along with 4 pts.

The Gamecocks return to action Monday at Colonial Life Arena as they host 13-10 Vanderbilt, tipping off at 7:00 PM....
