ABOUT THIS GAME

 • South Carolina trails Vanderbilt in the overall series 17-21 but is 12-2 against the Commodores in the Dawn Staley era after winning the last 11 meetings by an average of 16.0 points.
 • A win today would be the Gamecocks 25th this season, marking the eighth 25-win season in the last nine campaigns.
 • The Gamecocks look to improve to 12-0 in the SEC for the first time since the 2015-16 team went undefeated in league play. It would be the seventh-straight season with at least 12 SEC wins.

Five more games remaining to finish 29-1 for the season & 16-0 in conference.  Every game counts & it would be wise to use today’s & Thursday’s games to further hone team chemistry delivered to date w/o taking the foot off the peddle.  Get the offensive rebounds, tighten the D, finish the layups while in transition, & test your 3 ball skills prior to taking on UK on Sunday.  3 ball points will be a valuable asset in the tournaments making us especially dangerous if we effectively add this weaponry to coach’s “locked in” game strategy!  GO COCKS!

Gamecocks still as dominant as ever. Laeticia Amihere having a strong game thus far - 3 of 4 from the field, including a 3-ptr, for 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals in only 7 minutes of play! Boston has 8 pts and 8 rebounds in 12 1st half minutes, and Cooke also has 8 pts. Harris and Henderson also have 7 pts each along with Amihere, as the scoring is well distributed and meeting little resistance from the Commodores. Gamecocks shooting 57% from the field and are 5-10 behind the arc.

Looks like Ty Harris got kneed in the thigh late in the 1at half - she was limping a bit and was taken out of the game. She's returned to the game with her thigh taped up. Keep it going ladies!!

Gamecocks lead 79-35 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. I expect to see not much more than reserves for the final period. Henderson has 12 pts, Grissett has 8 pts, Amihere has 7 pts, and Saxton has 5 pts, so Vanderbilt isn't out of the hot water yet......

Great dominant win by the Gamecocks! The Gamecocks bench ended up out-scoring Vanderbilt 48-44. Great balanced offense and everyone contributed, although Olivia Thompson had a tough game going 0-6, 0-5 from the 3-pt. arc. She's been scuffling lately on her perimeter shooting, and needs to get back to the practice courts and work on that. Overall a great game effort by the team though, against a out-matched team in Vandy who is dealing with some injuries and may be a bit exhausted from the attrition this season....

Couple of post-game notes:

Ty Harris left the game late in the 1st half limping - looked to me like she took a knee into the meat of her thigh. She returned for the 2nd half with her thigh taped up, and returned to the game as the 2nd half began. She scored 5 quick points, then left again and did not return, and had ice on her thigh.

Turns out it was a kneed thigh, but Ty said she should be fine, and Coach Staley stated that she could have played out the game if needed, but wasn't. So she'll get a nice alcohol rub to the thigh by the trainers I'm sure.

Also, with Aliyah Boston's production of 12 points and 14 rebounds, tonight's game was her 11th double-double for the season, which sets the new freshman USC record over Alaina Coates' 10 dbl-dbls in 2013-14. Congrats Aliyah - merely the latest of many more program records to come from you!
