After the 1st Quarter, South Carolina has not shot the ball as well as they did to start the last game against Kentucky, only hitting 8-19 attempts (42.1%), but Alabama has been held to 2-14 (14.3%) shooting themselves, and the Gamecocks lead 19-9 through one Period....

2nd Quarter is more of a battle as the Gamecocks pick up some fouls, with Cooke, Beal, and Saxton getting 2 each. This results in walk-on PG Olivia Thompson getting some rare court time in the first half, and she responds with popping her first shot attempt, a 3-ptr. Alabama rebounds with South Carolina throughout the qtr., but the Gamecocks still extend on their lead, and take a 42-27 advantage into the halftime break......

18 total fouls called on both teams in just the 3rd Quarter alone - after only 13 called in the entire first half. It makes for a ugly, disjointed game in the period, and South Carolina played poorly. They still lead 64-53, but they need to play a better 4th if they want to escape with the win....

Alabama has been very strong with their 3-pt attempts. Have hit 8-14 on the game, and 6-7 in the 2nd half, which is unreal. They are barely in the top half of the league in 3-pt shooting, but are unconscious tonight. It's keeping them in the game along with free throws....

Gamecocks escape with the win over Alabama 93-78, to improve to 14-1, 2-0 on the season. Zia Cooke lead the Gamecocks with 20 pts, and adds 3 steals, Aliyah Boston scores 17 pts, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks in only 21 minutes, Destannie Henderson also scores 17 pts, Ty Harris adds 14 pts, 7 assists, and 3 steals, and Kiki Herbert-Harrigan chips in with 12 points. The Gamecocks make a brief return home to face 20th-ranked Arkansas and high-scoring G Chelsea Dungee. Arkansas defeated Auburn today 86-70....

Wasn't the prettiest of games. I think we won because of our height and athleticism. The effort seemed a little lackluster at times but I thought we picked it up when we needed to. I saw a few too many defensive breakdowns for my liking but I know we can iron those out.
