WBB: Gamecocks to come from behind win at Georgia 68-51
January 2, 2023

Top-ranked Carolina trailed Georgia for 24 minutes Monday night in Athens, but Brea Beal hit a three-pointer with 5:44 to play in the third quarter to put the Gamecocks on top 35-33 and they went on to a 68-51 win in Athens. The Gamecocks went on a 9-0 during that stretch to turn the game in their favor.

On a night Aliyah Boston was limited to just 6 shot attempts and 4 points, Zia Cooke picked up the slack lighting up the Bulldogs’ zone defense for a career-high 31 points. She made 4 three-point shots and hit 11 of 13 from the line. She was the only Gamecock to score in double figures.

The gamecocks are now 14-0 overall and 2-0 in the SEC. The Gamecocks will host Auburn on Thursday night.

Was getting ready to say Joni Taylor brought the usual heat against us, but first-year HC Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is at the helm this season after leading UCF to some great milestones.

Zia is playing the best ball of her career this year. I respect the work she has put in to make the progress -- especially on 3-point shot.

Hopefully Boston can get her game back on track, she appears to be struggling at the moment. (Completely aware that her minutes are down due to Dawn's increased rotations).
