MJ Webb
DE MJ Webb of Madison, GA visited USC Wednesday, his second unofficial visit with the Gamecocks this year. He also came in for a junior day in January. Webb has developed a strong relationship with Will Muschamp dating back to when the Gamecocks’ head coach recruited him at Auburn and Wednesday the two got the chance to spend extensive time together.
“I really enjoyed the visit,” Webb said. “I was with Coach Muschamp for a good bit of the time because the rest of the coaches were on the road. They’re doing a lot of renovating so I’m excited to see how the locker room and all turn out when they’re done.”
Muschamp and Webb also got the chance to talk defense and how Muschamp viewed Webb in his scheme.
“He said I reminded him of Jonathan Bullard because of our size and how he plays because he can play outside or inside and I can do the same,” Webb said. “We sat for about an hour and broke down film of Bullard and the different techniques he played when Muschamp was at Florida, and we did the same with my film.”
Webb said he’ll be back at USC this summer and will also spend an official visit with the Gamecocks this fall. Coming up he will visit Tennessee June 2nd and Auburn June 4th. And he’s staying away at this point from identifying any leaders, just those schools showing the strongest interest.
“I really don’t have a favorite list right now but the schools that have been contacting me the most are USC, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.”
