Tennessee head coach Butch Jones made his in home visit Wednesday with RB Derrell Scott of Havelock, NC. USC head coach Steve Spurrier is to visit with Scott on Thursday night beginning at 6;30 at Scott's home. Scott has been favoring Tennessee in recent weeks after favoring the Gamecocks earlier in the process. He made an official visit to Florida last weekend but the Gators aren't seen as a strong factor at this point. Scott will announce his decision Monday at 3:15 PM at his school.
Hilton Head coach BJ Payne confirmed this afternoon that DL Poona Ford has again canceled plans to visit USC. Ford had said Monday he would visit the Gamecocks this weekend. Payne said Ford called Gamecock recruiter Everette Sands Tuesday night and told him of his decision. Ford has visited Texas and is also looking at Purdue and Missouri.
USC recruiter Deke Adams met today with commitment DE Darriuis Caldwell of Pearl River JC, MS and the pledge was firmed up on both sides. Caldwell will make his official visit this weekend to USC.
