Wednesday morning Recruiting report

June 19, 2019

LB Desmond Tisdol of Rochelle, GA is considering a return visit to USC this week with teammate junior LB Martez Thrower. Tisdol last visited USC June 8th. He’s also been to Auburn and Florida State this month.

USC commitment OL Issiah Walker of Miami will return to USC Friday with some coaches and teammates and stay thru Sunday on an unofficial visit. He will participate in camp Saturday. Despite all his visits to other schools, Walker said his commitment to USC remains strong, but he’s not ready to shut down his recruiting totally. But this will be his final visit before the dead period.

Chapman WR Ben Rollins plans to walk-on at USC this fall.6-8 Ja’Von Benson of Ridge View was offered by Winthrop.

Could someone explain to me why there is a dead period?  I know it's an NCAA thing, but is there some particular reason for it?  If I understand, the coaching staff cannot contact the recruits, but the recruits can contact them.  Is that correct, and if so, how do they prove it?

Yes to give recruits a breather so they can be left alone and really for coaches as well to get a break. The process is long and the NCAA try's to break it up. There are several a year for this reason.
