One prospect has come off USC's recruiting board but another has been added. Shrine Bowl DL Arthur Williams of Fayetteville, NC was scheduled for an official visit with the Gamecocks this weekend but his coach said Friday afternoon Williams canceled the visit and will stick to his commitment to Florida State. But the Gamecocks are getting a visit this weekend from 3 star TE Jerry Gibson (6-3 220) of Theodore, AL.
Gibson flew into Charlotte this afternoon on his way to Columbia and confirmed the visit. "I'm just coming to take a visit," Gibson said. He has been committed to Minnesota since late November and said that remains the case. "I'm firmly committed to Minnesota. I don't think there's anything that can really change me." Asked when he'll make a final decision, Gibson said, "My decision's already made." Gibson said the Gamecocks actually made first contact with him last spring. Gibson played several positions in high school but the Gamecocks are recruiting him as a tight end.
