Coach Shane Beamer sent out two more commitment alerts Thursday night meaning he knows of three prospects who have committed to him but have not yet gone public. A possibility for one of the commitments Thursday is Florida transfer TE Nick Elksnis (6-6 250). He’s a native of Jacksonville who saw limited playing time in his two seasons with the Gators.
Transferring Newberry RB Mario Anderson Jr. said he will visit South Carolina for bowl practice Friday. He’s been talking with RB coach Montario Hardesty and an offer is possible. He’s been offered by Tennessee State and Tarleton State and plans to visit those two officially in January at this point. He will transfer to his new school in January. Anderson was named a D2 All-American after rushing for 1560 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Summerville native has two years of eligibility remaining.
TE Reid Mikeska (6-6 233) of Cypress, TX said he will take an official visit to South Carolina this weekend. He has been committed to Miami, and once was committed to Clemson. He also visited South Carolina in March.
Arkansas transfer TE Trey Knox (6-5 245) also is expected to be in Columbia this weekend for an official visit. Knox spent four seasons in Fayetteville and thus has prior relationships with Gamecocks receivers coach Justin Stepp and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. In 45 career games with the Razorbacks, Knox caught 81 passes for 892 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Also scheduled for an official visit to South Carolina this weekend is Maryland transfer TE CJ Dippre (6-5 250). 2024 OT Blake Franks of Greenville told 247Sports he will visit South Carolina this weekend and will then be ready to make his decision with Clemson and Ole Miss the other two under consideration.
2024 TE Michael Smith of Savannah said he will visit Gamecocks Sunday for their bowl practice. He has the Gamecocks in his final 8 with a January 24th commitment date.
TE/DE Nick Petrillo (6-3 225) of Morristown, NJ, and Fork Union Prep, VA visited South Carolina late in the season and plans to visit for a bowl practice.
