Campbell and Freeze were probably the closest thing to  hitting the "home run" hires. Tanner made a serious effort to go after Campbell and he simply didn't want to take on another rebuild - totally understandable. Freeze had the baggage and you can brush it off, but it does concern folks, but he doesn't want to be hear either.

On Steve Spurrier - as good as he was - he only won the East once and NEVER won the SEC. What makes Napier or Chadwell more special than that guy? NOTHING REALLY.

This program is in a desperate need of a complete culture change and that became even more obvious after Muschamp was fired. There are many of us who believe it takes a unique skill-set to bring in that change and to be successful - yes there's a good foundation here with our facilities, resources, and passionate fans but that's not enough. We need someone who gets/loves this job cause that is the level of commitment is what it will take to get us over the freaking hump. Shane gets this. Many on the BOT get this. Caselen/Tanner get this. Many in the coaching circles pushing for Shane get this. Many former players get this.

Welcome to South Carolina coach Beamer and I wish nothing but success for Chadwell, Napier, and the rest of them. 

 
I was lukewarm on Beamer, but now that the decision is made I will be fully behind him. Time for some Beamer Ball!

 
I had mixed feelings on this hire but I’m all aboard now. I’m hoping he can hire a dream staff and right the ship.

 
If this is the Shane Train, would the coordinators be conductors?

Same.   Agree that once he’s a Gamecock, he has my full support.  Curious what his staff looks like and how many if any of the current staff are kept.   Shaw is obvious to most of us.  He needs an energized staff of recruiters first.   The lifeblood of the program is recruiting and it needs to be stepped up immediately.

I've been hearing Garrett Riley as OC.

As for DC, I'm kind of hoping the Bud Foster rumors are not true. I mean didn't he retire due to heart issues?

 
Riley would be a solid hire.   Some air raid blended with creative running and athletic QB play.   I like that if true.  Foster is 61 and while not ancient, seems his best defenses were years ago although I’m admittedly not up on my VT statistics.    He was a great coordinator in the early 2000s.   I’d be ok with that so long as we have solid position coaches under him. Need guys who can coach and recruit.  

 
I think Beamer will put a big emphasis on recruiting.  May see the best work out of the recruiting office that we’ve ever seen

 
Shaw staying was a no brainer.

Now go hire Riley and Mason, figure out a spot for Bobo (QB's/Co head coach?), and call up every commitment and the ones who recently de-committed and get going......

Bud Foster would be an immediate red flag hire for me.  I hope he goes after Mason or a younger, fiery coach who will recruit as hard as ever.

 
Bud Foster is too old IMO.  There is a reason he retired.  Mason would be a good choice.  Let's get this staff together and hit the recruiting trail.  Welcome aboard Coach Beamer.

Torn on Bobo. I guess if we can’t get a better QB coach keep him, and I am willing to give him a pass on being part of the Muschamp coaches because he wasn’t here long before Champ was canned. 

 
Hire a ton of younger brainiacs to come in. Go young and let those guys build something. You would be surprised at the creativity.
